Your Dog Shelter - Dog Houses

If you plan to leave your dog outside for long periods of time, make sure your dogs should have their own place for shelter. This is to keep them away from extreme heat, heavy rain or cold snow.  It is important to purchase a dog house that matches the climate in which you live. Consider how comfortable the dog houses would be in rough weather.

You should consider a heated dog house, if you live in an area with freezing cold winters and plenty of rain. But, if you have the opposite climate and keeping your dog cool is more of a priority, make sure you choose a house that is well ventilated and put it in a shady area of the yard. If you live in a climate that has temperature extremes either in the summer or winter, the safest and most comfortable house for your dog is an insulated dog house. Some manufacturers offer air conditioned dog houses for dog which is really having trouble with the heat.

Depending on the size of your dog there are many shapes and sizes to choose from, range from small, medium, large and extra large size houses. Find one that is suitable to your dog and make sure it will give him enough room to roam about while having enough space to chew on his favorite dog chew. For extra large dog houses, you may need to custom order in advance since most pet stores don’t provide these. Alternatively, you might want to build a doghouse yourself since it can be cheaper than buying one.

You can make these houses even more comfortable with the use of dog accessories such as a comfortable dog bed and his favorite toy.

Decide which material best suit your needs. There are many different materials used to make dog houses, such as: plastic, wooden, PVC and galvanized steel. Some are manufactured with insulation and others are not.

Insulated dog houses

Insulated dog houses will keep your dog well ventilated during the hot summer months and they also prevent the dog house form getting too cold during the colder months. Most insulated doghouses are made from top quality wood. The most common material used is cedar wood since it can retain heat better.

Indoor Dog house
Indoor dog houses are not just for dogs to relax or sleep in at night but they are also great for training the puppy. These dog houses are a great way to control your dog’s movement.

Outdoor dog house

An outdoor dog house will become a permanent shelter, sanctuary for your dog. It gives you a place to put your dog’s water dish in which it will not be fouled by leaves, dirt, or grass and where other animals can not drink it. If you are looking for a comfortable place for your dog to stay outdoors, you may want to consider an insulated doghouse.Consider also the strong construction.

Many owners are considering another housing combination: luxury dog houses.  The concept is similar to standard dog houses, as they offer shelter to protect the dog from the elements. However, they achieve this objective in a much more creative way. You can make luxury dog houses even more effective if you install an air conditioner or a heater within the housing unit.

Fashionable Dog Clothing

Many dog owners give personalized clothes for their dogs and sometimes dress up their dogs in human-like clothing. Celebrities like Paris Hilton are well-known for dressing up her small dogs in cute stylish pet costume.

Dog clothing is generally viewed as a luxury. But in some cases, dog clothing provides necessary protection for animals that live in inclement weather or are in potentially hazardous service capacities. For small dogs, clothing is not just for setting trends!

There are numerous websites that sell all kinds of fashionable clothing for dogs, with various designs and great choices, everything ranging from t shirts, hooded sweatshirts, dog boots and even pajamas. When shopping for designer dog clothes, choose materials that are durable and easy to care for.  During winter time, look for water resistant materials so that your dog clothes will not get wet and make your dog sick.

Many dogs are not used to wearing dog clothes so you may need to train them. You should choose dog clothing that is easy for you to put on and not a struggle for your dog when wearing it.

Dog Clothing for Cool Weather & Rainy Season

Everybody have known that dogs with thin coats, short hair and smaller dogs don’t have the mechanism to retain body heat, they have more tendencies to get cold during cooler weather and/or rainy season and may develop hypothermia

But most people never consider that many dogs which look so well protected in their natural fur coats need clothing also. Actually, sometimes the cold weather or sharp thorns can penetrate even the thickest of coats. Except some dog breeds originate come from cold weather climates, like Great Pyrenees and Bernese Mountain breeds, they don’t really need clothing for cool weather.

Dog costumes like sweater, jacket, raincoat and boots could add up sufficient warmth to keep the dog from shuddering during walks. In extreme temperature you can purchase insulated jackets as well as insulated booties.

Protecting your dog from sunburn

Just as we are, the harmful UV rays of the sun can cause the development of sunburn or, worse, skin cancer. Dogs with light hair and pink skin are especially sensitive to the sun’s rays.

Clothing, whether light T-shirt in the summer or warm coats in the winter, protect your dog from the sun. There are a variety of shirt designs available, and all of them can absolutely make your dog look lovely and trendy. A T-shirt will give your dog a chance to enjoy the sun without developing sunburn.

Dog Cage

Dog Cage -  A  Private Domain

Common types of dog cages are the folding dog cage, metal dog cage and also nylon. There are also many new design and styles of dog cages available to provide your pet with the same security and comfort as traditional ones. You should purchase a cage made to of the best quality and durable material so that your dog can use it for a long time.

Deciding on what kind of dog cage you want is sometimes the hardest decision, it is naturally dependent on the size and weight of your dog, and your budget, of course.

The cage environment is a great solution for giving your dog a private, quiet space. It is most important to have the cage ready when your puppy arrives in your home for the first time. For puppies, a dog cage seems to be a very good option to protect them from getting hurt.

A cage is his home where he will sleep at night in his private domain.

You can also buy accessories for the cages. They have different kind of blankets and pillows that will make your pet feel like he or she is the king of the cage. Put some chewy toys in the cage for him/her to play with.  If the dog is confident then it will be a lot easier to train him. He will feel secure and happy in his own cage. You can buy a designer cage cover to make the crate more private and decorative.

Do not consider that placing dogs in cages is a cruel thing, actually it is safer for your dog which only have limited supervised time in your house. There are electric cables and all sorts of thing that could hurt and injure your dog if left unattended.

Keep a dog in the cage since beginning, is a best training that makes your dog aware that your beds are not the place that he should use for playing or sleeping. He/she will learn which places where he should not sit or sleep. The cage should be just large enough for the dog or puppy  to sleep and stand up as well as turn around.

Use a dog cage correctly and it establishes restrictions for your dog when you are not home to watch his behavior. A cage can also define a safe area for your puppy dog to be in if you’re having company and you have a “less obedient” puppy dog
