Introduce Your Dog to a Crate

What a crate really is and how they can improve your relationship with your dog ?

A “crate” (a portable dog kennel) is a dog house within your house. It’s a good thing to buy as soon as you get your puppy and get it started sleeping in it’s crate right away. Even if you’ve got an older dog which hasn’t used a dog crate before it’s never too late to introduce your dog to a crate.

Your dog’s crate is a tool which should allow you to have a smoother, happier relationship with your dog, a crate should NEVER be used for the purpose of punishment.  It is also not intended as a place to leave your dog and ignore him. Crates can make training your dog a lot easier.

The ultimate goal in using the dog crate is to produce an easily housetrained dog and one that can be trusted in the house. Therefore, you should consider the use of a crate for a dog to be temporary. Many dogs, especially the larger and more active ones, will need to be crated during their adolescence until they can be trusted in the home.

Crate training takes some time and effort, but it is a proven way to help train dogs who act inappropriately without knowing any better. Crate training can take days or weeks, depending on your dog’s age, temperament and past experiences. Make his “room” comfortable

If you let your puppy out of the crate while he’s upset, you’ll be rewarding him for bad behavior. The next time he’s supposed to go in his crate, he’ll cry and bark again because that’s what got him out the last time

Type of dog crate :
